As many as 200 officers of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have announced going on leave in protest against no raise in their salaries, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

According to official sources, the officers have prepared applications to go on leave, and their bail pleas will be submitted to the FBR chairman.

The grade 17, 18 and 19 officers of the Inland Revenue in the FBR will apply for a 22-day leave.

“If 150 per cent executive allowance and salaries are not increased, there will be a more severe reaction,” they warned.

“The salaries of the employees of several institutions including the Prime Minister’s Office and the Supreme Court are 100 times higher,” they pointed out.

“Household expenses are not affordable due to the low salaries. The current salaries cannot cover the household expenses due to the double rate of inflation,” they said.
