IHC suspends KP minister’s disqualification by ECP

The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday suspended the Election Commission of Pakistan’s decision to disqualify Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Transport Shah Muhammad Khan Wazir, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Ahsan Bhoon Advocate represented the provincial minister, who belongs to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

Issuing notices to parties to the case, IHC Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah adjourned hearing of the case until Friday (February 11, 2022). 

On February 1, 2022, 24NewsHD reported that the ECP had disqualified KP Transport Minister Shah Mohammad Khan Wazir for attacking polling stations in Bakakhel during the first phase of local bodies’ elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
