Punjab officers’ committee to probe Murree tragedy, notification issued

A four-member committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary Punjab for Home Affairs has been formed on the Murree tragedy.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, the Punjab government has issued a formal written notification to form a committee.

Additional Chief Secretary Zafar Nasrullah will convener of the committee. Ali Sarfraz, Asad Gilani and Farooq Mazhar are also included as other members of the committee.

The committee will determine those responsible for the Murree tragedy and investigate whether the government agencies had taken any joint action despite the stern warning of the Meteorological Department or not.

The committee will also investigate why vehicles were not stopped in Islamabad to prevent entry into Murree and Galyat.
