Postpone class 10 and 12 examinations for a few weeks, PML leader pleads

PML-N leader Kh Saad Rafique has made a request on the floor of National Assembly to the government for postponing the examinations of classes 10 and 12 for a few weeks.

The National Assembly met with Speaker Asad Qaisar in the chair on a calling attention notice file by the PML-N Saad. The federal government announced scaling down the exams to just elective subjects for students of secondary and higher secondary classes commencing on July 10 across the country.

The PML-N leader showed reservations about the decision and raised questions like if Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood consulted secretary, teachers and other stakeholders before sealing the fate of students.

He told the the house about complaints of lack of resources from remote Buner of KP and said the story in Balochistan and other parts of the country is no different. He mentioned the scorching and felt strong concerns for the 'unprepared' students.

Students are not taught and when their syllabus is not finished there is no moral ground for commencing exams, Saad said adding that such step can land tens of thousands of youth in deep trouble.

He made a request to the government for putting off the exams for 4-6 weeks and said that classes should be held to prepare the students for the test.

"It is not a political issue at all … it is future of thousands of youth," he said and stressed the federal minister who has been in AJK for electioneering be called just for a few hours to save the future of students.

Feeling strong concerns for the youth, the PML-N leader urged the ruling PTI to just hold debate over the matter within the party to provide the students with a little relief from the fear of failure.
