The US dollar again showed persistency in making gains against the rupee as its value was up by 71 paisas in inter-bank rate on Tuesday and closed the session at Rs164.33, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The latest gains followed the business sentiments shown on Monday when the dollar was again up by 32 paisas after losing Rs1.59 against the local currency in the previous three business days.

Similarly, the euro was up by two paisas and closed at Rs184.98 while the pound sterling gained 31 paisas and was available for Rs207.94.

It was obvious that a similar trend would be witnessed in the open market where the dollar made a gain of 70 paisas and closed at Rs164.50.

But it was euro which performed best in the open market as it reached the level of Rs184 after a gain of Rs2, while the pound ended the day at Rs207 after gaining Rs1.

The dollar has gained Rs1.03 against the rupee in the first two days of the week in inter-bank rate. During the last rally spread over four business days, the dollar was up by Rs3.97. However, the rupee had reduced the difference by Rs1.59 during the last three days of the previous business week.
