National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) gave approval to increase power tariff by Rs7.80 per unit on two different accounts of fuel cost adjustments, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Nepra sent notification to the federal government for approval.

Nepra gave approval for two different fuel adjustments of the previous year including 2021 July to September (Rs6.47) and 2021 January to March (Rs1.33).

Nepra has allowed K-Electric to decrease the power tariff by 41 paisas as part of two different fuel adjustments of previous year including 2021 April to June (94 paisas) and October to December (47 paisas).

The increase in tariff will put a burden of Rs7.86 billion on the power consumers in Karachi. The company will recover the tariff adjustment in the electricity bills of June 2022.
