Two people including a Chinese national were injured in a firing incident in Karachi’s Lyari Baghdadi area on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The Chinese national was driving the vehicle along with two other people when the vehicle was attacked near Kamila Stop in the Lyari Baghdadi area.

The Chinese national, identified as Jason, is out of danger, officials from the hospital said.

The Chinese man, identified as Jason, got injured after the broken windowpane hit him but he is out of danger. Another rider, named Khalid, received a bullet in his abdomen and was in a serious condition. Both were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

However, the police said it was not yet clear why the bullets were fired on the vehicle. They said there no signs of any dacoity at the scene.

SSP City Sarfaraz Nawaz said they had found two bullet shells from the scene while further investigation was underway.

DIG South Javed Akbar Riaz said the bullets were fired on the vehicle of the Solid Waste Management. Preliminary investigation suggested the firing incident was a "targeted" attack, he added.

The Chinese nationals used to visit the area for cleanliness purposes and the firing incident seemed to be an attempt to spread fear.
