Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has declared that Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on May 14 but cautioned the countrymen to wait till the final decision to be announced by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a tweet uploaded on Sunday, Information Minister Fawad Ch said that Eid moon will be sighted on May 13 and Eid will be celebrated on Friday, May 14.

But at the same time, the minister instead of being 100 percent sure that Eid day will fall on 14th May tweeted further that people should wait till the final announcement by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

However, Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council (RHRC) Secretary-General Khalid Ejaz Mufti Saturday confirmed that the Eidul Fitr would be celebrated in Pakistan on Friday, May 14, 2021.

Providing details with the scientific evidence of the appearance of the Shawal moon, the RHRC secretary said the moon would be born on the night between Tuesday, May 11 and Wednesday, May 12 at exactly 12 O’clock in Pakistan.

He said that it was compulsory for moon sighting that its age should be at least 19 hours after the birth but on Wednesday evening it would be only 18 hours and 50 minutes in Lahore, and 18 hours and 58 minutes in Muzaffarabad.
