NEPRA increases 5pc annual hydropower profit rate for KP, Punjab

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Friday approved a 5 per cent annual increase in net hydropower profit rate for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the NEPRA has taken this decision at the request of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
As per the NEPRA decision, the increase will be imposed at the rate of Rs 1.10 per unit.
The NEPRA’s approval of the increase of hydropower profit rate for KP will be applicable from 2015-16 while the rate of increase in profit for Punjab will be applicable from 2016-17.
The NEPRA in its decision said that the KP government should approach CCI for implementation as the hike will come into effect after approval by the CCI.
