Resham breaks silence, reveals truth behind Deedar’s allegations
Veteran Pakistani actress Resham has finally spoken out amid mounting controversies involving her longtime colleague, Deedar.
Known for ruling the Pakistani film industry in the 1990s alongside Deedar, Resham has now addressed claims that paint her in a negative light, calling them a product of jealousy and misunderstanding.
During a recent appearance on Drive with Shazia Zeeshan, the host questioned Resham about the criticism she faces from some quarters. People, the host noted, have accused her of “destroying homes,” being negative, or claimed that her prime in the film industry has passed.
Responding firmly, Resham said, “People are jealous of me because of my ‘Langar’ (charitable meals). I don’t want to sully anyone’s name, but envy stems from the work I do. Some even said I make too much ‘Langar’ as if I might stumble in doing so. Look at Deedar: what is her identity? She is famous because of her sister.
She has been dancing day and night for thirty years what is her recognition? My work speaks for itself. A good person will always say good things; a bad person will only spread venom.”
Resham’s remarks underscore the tension between the two veteran actresses, but also highlight her commitment to philanthropy and her belief in positive values.
She emphasized that she does not engage in personal attacks but remains focused on her charitable work and acting career.
Both Resham and Deedar were prominent figures in Lollywood during the 1990s and are still widely respected for their contributions to Pakistani cinema.
While their rivalry has occasionally resurfaced in media coverage, Resham’s latest statements suggest she is taking the moral high ground, framing the criticism she faces as envy rather than genuine grievance.
The interview has since gone viral on social media, with fans praising Resham for her poise and for defending her reputation without resorting to name-calling or aggression.
