PTI leaders among 51 accused declared fugitives in May 9 riots case

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Sargodha on Friday declared PTI leaders Malik Ahmad Bachar, Bilal Ijaz, Ahmad Chattha and others as proclaimed offenders in Judicial Complex Mianwali case related to May 9 riots, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Pronouncing its decision, the court awarded life term of 25 years to accused Muhammad Ismael, the only accused in custody, while declared 51 others including senior PTI leaders as fugitives.

The court also ordered the police to arrest all the convicts within one month and present them before the court.

Case number 349 was registered at Mianwali City police Station in which senior PTI leader and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub has already been declared proclaimed offender.

On Tuesday last, the ATC had sentenced Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmad Bachar as well as two MNAs, Mohammed Ahmed Chattha and Bilal Ijaz, in a case related to May 9 violence.

Bachar was later denotified as Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly.
