HSD price up by Rs4 per litre, petrol price remains unchanged

The Finance Ministry has notified new prices of petroleum products for the upcoming 15 days. 

According to the notification on Monday, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) is hiked by Rs4 while the prices of petrol, light diesel and kerosene unchanged.

The minister said the in its endeavour to provide maximum relief to the public decided to absorb most of the increase in prices of petroleum products in the international market.

Reports said that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) recommended an increase in fuel prices including that of petrol in December.

The regulatory authority sent a summary to the division concerned, suggesting a Rs2.55 per litre increase in petrol.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has to approve the increase in prices before they come into effect. The finance ministry will announce the new prices on November 30 (today).

Last month too, the government brought down the petrol price by Rs1.71 per litre.  The prices were lowered for the next 15 days as per the new policy of the incumbent government.
