Pakistan knocked out of U-19 World Cup semi-final race after loss to India

India defeated Pakistan by 58 runs in a key Super Six match of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, dashing Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday. 

In Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Pakistan’s captain Farhan Yousuf won the toss and elected to field, putting India in to bat first.

Pakistan bowled out India for 252 runs in 49.5 overs.

Pakistan need to chase the 253-run target in 33.3 overs if they want to make it to the last four of the World Cup.

However, they can take the target to 34.3 overs if they finish with a six (258). 

Pakistan managed 194 all out in 46.2 overs. 

Opener Usman Khan top-scored with 66, followed by Hamza Zahoor with 42 and captain Farhan Yousuf contributing 38.

For India, Ayush Mahatre and Khelan Patel were the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets each.

Pakistan’s Abdul Subhan took three wickets, while Mohammad Siyam added two, with Ali Hasan Baloch, Ahmed Hussain, Momin Qamar and Ali Raza chipping in with one wicket apiece.

With Australia, England, and Afghanistan already qualified for the semi-finals, a Pakistan victory would have seen both India and Pakistan level on six points, with net run rate deciding the semi-final spot.
