“Women in Law” marks 10 years with an international conference

The platform Women in Law organized an international conference to mark the completion of ten years of women’s achievements and struggle in the field of law. Justice Ayesha A. Malik of the Supreme Court of Pakistan attended the conference as the chief guest.

The conference, held at Faletti’s Hotel, was attended by senior lawyers, women lawyers, legal experts, representatives of civil society, and members of judicial circles from across the country. Addressing the gathering, Justice Ayesha A. Malik praised the significant progress made by women in the legal profession and stated that the provision of constitutional and legal rights to women in Pakistan is a positive development. She said that women lawyers and judges have earned their place in the judicial system through hard work, competence, and professional excellence, which is encouraging for society.

Justice Ayesha A. Malik emphasized that the justice delivery system cannot be complete without the meaningful participation of women. She added that platforms like Women in Law are playing an important role not only in mentoring and training women lawyers but also in promoting legal awareness.

The international conference was organized by Nadia Usman Chaudhry, founder of Women in Law and an organization working for women’s rights. Speaking on the occasion, she said that the primary objective of Women in Law is to empower women legally, professionally, and socially. She highlighted that over the past ten years, the platform has rendered notable services through training programs, seminars, and conferences for women lawyers.

During the ceremony, host Nadia Usman Chaudhry and Haseebullah Khan, Chairman of the Legal Education Committee of the Lahore High Court Bar Association, presented an honorary award to Justice Ayesha A. Malik in recognition of her judicial services. On the occasion, Nadia Usman Chaudhry also appreciated the contributions of Advocate Haseebullah Khan to the legal profession, particularly in supporting women lawyers.

Various sessions of the conference featured detailed discussions on women’s rights, legal education, gender equality, judicial reforms, and the challenges faced by women lawyers. The speakers agreed that providing equal opportunities to women would not only strengthen the judicial system but also promote social justice.

At the conclusion of the conference, participants reaffirmed their commitment to continue joint efforts for the protection of women’s rights, promotion of legal awareness, and professional development of women lawyers.
