Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan announced on Friday said that the provincial government will rebuild Karak’s Hindu temple that was vandalised and burned by a mob and orders have been issued in this regard, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. The KP government will pay for the reconstruction of the temple and the adjoining houses.

In a statement, the chief minister said the government will ensure the temple is rebuilt without delay and that the authorities concerned have already been issued directives for the purpose.

“We will ensure the protection of sacred places of minorities at any cost,” he reiterated, adding those involved in the tragic incident have been apprehended and strict action will be taken against them.

Mahmood Khan declared that no one will be allowed to take the law into their hands.

A day earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Gulzar Ahmed took notice of the tragic incident and directed the KP chief secretary and the provincial police chief to submit a report in this regard by Monday.

A Hindu temple in Karak destroyed by a mob last week will be rebuilt using provincial government funds, KP Information Minister Kamran Bangash said Friday.

"We regret the damage caused by the attack," Kamran Bangash told AFP. "The chief minister has ordered the reconstruction of the temple and adjoining house," he added.

Construction will start as soon as possible with the support of the Hindu community, he said, adding security would be provided at the site.
