Doctors at Rawalpindi hospital issue death certificate of living newborn
What could be described as a shocking incident, doctors at Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi on Thursday issued a death certificate of a newborn, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
However, much to the astonishment of the child’s parents, when they received him, he was found alive.
As soon as the parents confirmed that the child was alive, doctors immediately shifted him to a ventilator.
A woman named Robina had given birth to a child on Wednesday.
Parents of the newborn said that doctors issued the death certificate in haste.
They further said that doctors in the certificate confirmed they had handed over the child’s body to his parents.
The certificate bears the stamp and the signatures of a doctor, they added.
The hospital administration said that the newborn was suffering from Lazarus syndrome in which it became difficult for the patient to breathe.
It informed that a committee had been constituted to probe the incident and said that action would be taken against whosoever was responsible for the issuance of the certificate.
