Lahore–Sialkot Motorway M11 closed due to dense fog

The Lahore–Sialkot Motorway (M11) has been temporarily closed for traffic due to dense fog, authorities confirmed on Thursday.

The closure has been implemented as a safety measure to protect the lives of road users amid severely reduced visibility.

Motorway Police officials warned that travelling in foggy conditions significantly increases the risk of accidents, particularly when drivers violate lane discipline. They emphasized that lane violations in low visibility can lead to dangerous and potentially fatal crashes.

Speaking on the situation, Syed Imran Ahmed, spokesperson for the Motorway Police Central Region, said the decision to close the motorway was taken purely in the public interest. “The purpose of closing motorways during fog is to protect the lives and property of citizens. Lane violations in fog can lead to dangerous accidents,” he stated.

The Motorway Police have urged all road users to strictly follow lane discipline and avoid unnecessary travel until weather conditions improve. Commuters are advised to stay updated through official traffic advisories before planning their journeys.
