CTD officer martyred in South Waziristan terror attack

Two attackers killed in retaliatory fire

A sub-inspector of Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) was martyred while a terrorist was also killed and another injured in retaliatory fire by the police personnel in front of Azam Warsak police station in Wanna, the headquarters of South Waziristan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

According to the CTD sources, two unidentified terrorists shot dead Sub-Inspector Musa Khan in front of Azam Warsak police station when he was leaving the police station as usual.

One terrorist was killed in retaliatory fire by the police personnel deployed outside the police station while the other escaped despite being injured. The identity of the slain terrorist was yet to be ascertained.

In another incident, the police personnel deployed outside the Azam Warsak police station stopped two persons for search over suspicion, but they hurled a grenade at the police personnel and also opened fire on them.

The policemen fired back in retaliation, killing one identified as Muhammad Omar Yargul Khel on the spot.

The other terrorist, identified as Bilal Sarki Khel, was injured in firing by the policemen and fled from the scene.

The funeral prayers for martyred Sub-Inspector Musa Khan were offered at the Political Jirga Hall. Senior police officers including DSP Nadir Khan and DSP Iqbal Baloch attended his funeral prayers.

Later on, the body of the martyred police officer was sent to his native village on an ambulance escorted by a police van.
