Imran Khan says judiciary being turned into a govt department: Aleema Khan

Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has expressed displeasure over shorting meeting with Imran Khan, adding that sisters were given 15 minutes and PTI lawyer Zaheer Abbas was granted just 1.5 minutes to meet the PTI founder. According to 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday, Salman Safdar, Salman Akram Raja, and Niazullah Niazi, were not permitted to meet him at all.

Talking to the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Aleema Khan said that all efforts were being made to politically sideline the party’s founder. Referring to 26th Constitutional Amendment, Aleema Khan said public’s vote is being disregarded.

“If you steal people’s vote and say it doesn’t matter, then it's as if martial law has been imposed,” she quoted Imran Khan as saying.

Aleema Khan said Imran Khan was of the view that judiciary is being turned into a government department, and the rule of law is being undermined. The founder believes that ethics and morality have disappeared, and those sitting in assemblies were not elected by public vote.

She claimed that media voices have been silenced and that the 26th Amendment is paving the way toward authoritarianism.

He said the voice of the people was being crushed.

She claimed PTI founder has instructed the party to prepare for a movement after the 10th of Muharram. He praised the resistance in the Punjab Assembly and appreciated the opposition leader’s efforts. Currently, 26 members are facing restrictions, and he suggested they form a symbolic assembly outside.

She added that the founder has given directives for the party which have been conveyed to Salman Akram Raja.
