Mohsin Naqvi orders early completion of Islamabad’s model jail

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed to complete construction work of the Model Jail in Islamabad, which has been pending for the last 14 years, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Mohsin Naqvi gave these directives during his visit to the under-construction Model Jail located in Sector H-16 on Tuesday. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhary was also accompanied Mohsin Naqvi.

Mohsin Naqvi inspected various areas of the under-construction jail and viewed progress on the development work.

Interior Minister set a deadline of the current year for completion of the first phase of the project.

He said that construction work should be completed as per the timeframe after working round the clock.

During the first phase, the Model Jail will have the capacity to accommodate 1,500 prisoners.

Mohsin Naqvi directed to complete two more barracks within 90 days in Model Jail.

The Interior Minister directed Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) Islamabad to submit a plan for the appointment of staff in the Model Jail.

The project was started in 2011 and faced numerous delays over the last few years.

Interior Secretary, Deputy Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Deputy Commissioner General, contractors, and consultants were also present during the meeting.
