Transporters announce 5pc hike in fares

In the wake of hike in petroleum prices by the government, the transporters across the country have increased 5pc fares across multiple routes, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The AC bus fare from Lahore to Karachi and Quetta has increased from Rs. 5500 to Rs. 5800.

Fare for route of Peshawar has risen from Rs2500 to Rs2700, while the Lahore-Murree route has seen an increase from Rs2500 to Rs2800.

Similarly, the fare to Islamabad is now Rs2000, up from Rs1800. Passengers traveling to Multan will now pay Rs 2200 instead of Rs2000, while the fare to Faisalabad has gone up from Rs. 750 to Rs. 800.

Likewise, the Lahore to Bahawalpur fare has increased from Rs2300 to Rs 2500. This decision was made during a meeting of the Public Transport Owners Association. Travelers have called on authorities to take notice. Transporters, on the other hand, claim they had no choice due to the rising fuel costs.
