Kahna Tuition Centre tragedy: Initial report says extra load leads to roof collapse

The initial investigation report of Kahna tuition centre roof collapse has been submitted to the Punjab government, in which 14 students were killed and five had got injured on Tuesday. 

According to report, excessive load on a structurally weakened roof led to the tragic incident. The weight of construction material, including mud, cement and tiles, along with the presence of workers carrying out repair work, significantly increased the load on the structure. The report said that the roof was unable to withstand the extra weight, leading to its collapse. The final determination of responsibility will be made after a complete technical and forensic investigation. 

Investigators said 21 students were inside the classroom when the incident occurred. Falling bricks, concrete, iron and other debris buried the children, causing multiple casualties. The children suffered severe skull bone injuries. 

The report included an assessment of the initial causes of the deaths of the 14 children. The opinions of experts were also included in investigation report. The government has started reviewing the report on the Kahna tragedy.
