Temperature in Jacobabad to reach 46 degrees Celsius today as country bakes under sun

The country is in the grip of extremely hot and sultry weather these days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

It was extremely hot in interior Sindh on Wednesday as the maximum temperature in Jacobabad was expected to rise to 46 degrees Celsius later in the day.

Intense heat forced residents of the city and its suburban areas to mostly remain indoors.

Hot, humid weather tests people’s patience in Lahore 

Just like other parts of the country, heat and humidity persisted in Lahore on Wednesday, making people perspire profusely.

Partly cloudy weather and winds blowing did not mitigate the sufferings of Lahorites.

The maximum temperature was expected to go up to 37 degrees Celsius, while 30 degrees Celsius on the minimum side.

The level of moisture in the air in the morning stood at 57 per cent, while winds were blowing at the speed of 13 kilometers per hour.

The weather department said that winds would pick up after 2:00 in the afternoon, while there were 10 per cent chances of rain in the evening.

Drizzle predicted for Karachi 

The weather was cloudy and windy in Karachi, kindling a ray of hope in the residents that it would rain today.

The Met Office forecast that the maximum temperature would touch the 36 degrees Celsius mark, while it remained 29 degrees Celsius on the minimum side.

It also forecast drizzle at a few places in the port city.

Winds were blowing in the city from the south-west at the speed of 18 kilometers per hour.

The level of humidity in the air stood at 72 per cent.

Rain predicted for Islamabad, other cities

Meanwhile, the weather department has said that a powerful rain-producing system will enter the country today.

Under the impact of the system, it has added, rains are expected in Islamabad, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, KP, Punjab and parts of Balochistan and Sindh from today until July 6.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned of urban flooding and damage to infrastructure during rains.
