Punjab government had cut Rs15million in the budget of more than 1100 public schools in Lahore city.
According to a report of 24NewsHD TV channel, education seems no longer a priority of the Punjab government as it started to cut the educational budget of the schools.
The report said that after the cut of the budget of Rs15 million, the school administrations would have to face severe difficulties in paying utility bills, buying stationeries, and other necessary payments.
As per the report, some school education officials informed that the finance department had made a cut of Rs2.4 billion in the last quarter budget of 48,000 government schools in Punjab, which will directly create administrative difficulties for the heads of public schools.
On the other hand, the officials said the efforts of the school education department to get the remaining funds of Rs2.4 billion had also failed and only Rs1 billion were released to 48,000 schools in the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year 2020-21.
The previous government have given educational policies a priority and introduced several projects like “Parha Likha Punjab”, “Laptop Scheme” for the brilliant student of higher education, and “Danish Schools” and also allocated extra funds for enhancing the literacy rate in the province.
