Shehbaz, Erdogan reaffirm enhancing of bilateral economic ties

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have agreed to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries, 24News HD TV Channel reported on Wednesday.

PM Shehbaz Sharif who is on an official visit to Turkey and President Erdogan held a joint press conference after a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Ankara.

Addressing the media, PM Shehbaz Sharif invited Turkish President Erdogan to visit Pakistan in September 2022 and said Turkey is like Pakistan's second home.

The PM termed his meeting with President Erdogan very productive and expressed the hope that under the dynamic leadership of the president, the bilateral ties would scale to new heights.

Shehbaz appraised Turkey for its progress in E-commerce and other fields and said Pakistan has investment opportunities in hydropower and energy sectors.

He said that the relationship between the two countries was embedded deep into history and shaped by shared goals.

PM Shehbaz added that these ties transcended times and continued from generation to generation.

The PM said this year, the two countries were celebrating the 75th year anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties.

On this occasion, Turkish President Erdogan said the two countries (Turkey and Pakistan) are committed to further enhancing bilateral relations.

Turkish President Erdogan appreciated Pakistan's efforts against terrorism and said Pakistan and Turkey have similar views on various forums.

He also said that Turkey is fully cooperating with Pakistan in the manufacturing of ships.

Erdogan said during their meeting, that they had discussed the regional and international issues in detail.

Turkish President said they have reaffirmed to enhance the scope of bilateral ties, adding the high-level meeting would be held in Islamabad in September which would further provide an opportunity for both countries to further foster their brotherly ties.

President Erdogan resolved that the close friendship and cooperation between the two countries would be further strengthened.

Earlier, the two leaders also witnessed the signing of various agreements and MoUs for enhanced cooperation in diverse areas of mutual interests.
