Bird hits PIA flight during landing at Lahore airport
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight narrowly escaped accident after it was hit by a bird at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport while landing on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to sources, PIA flight PK-304, coming from Karachi to Lahore, was struck by a bird at the Lahore Airport.
The 200 passengers were on board the flight PK-304 from Karachi to Lahore. This incident occurred at around 6 pm yesterday. The report says PIA may have to spend millions of rupees to fix the technical fault. The aircraft was allowed to fly after 20 hours. An aviation official said that no bird repellent system has been installed at any airport across the country to protect planes from bird hits.
Airlines have to bear losses of millions of rupees every year due to the bird strikes which can also cause major accidents.
