Umrah season to commence on June 11, says Saudi govt

The Saudi government has officially announced the Umrah calendar for 2025, confirming that the new Umrah season will begin on June 11, shortly after the conclusion of Hajj.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the issuance of Umrah visas is scheduled to commence on June 10, paving the way for pilgrims from around the world to perform the minor pilgrimage.

This announcement comes amid warnings from Saudi authorities of an exceptionally hot Hajj season, with daytime temperatures expected to soar up to 47°C.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a comprehensive advisory for pilgrims, forecasting hot to extremely hot weather across the holy sites in Makkah and Madinah.

According to NCM forecasts, daytime temperatures will range between 40°C and 47°C, with night-time lows dropping to 27°C–32°C. Humidity levels are predicted to fluctuate between 15% and 60%, adding to the discomfort for pilgrims.

Dr Ayman Ghulam, CEO of the NCM, highlighted the likelihood of northerly to northwesterly winds blowing at 25 to 35 km/h, which may stir dust storms and reduce visibility, especially in open desert areas and highways.

There is also a warning for potential thunderstorms, particularly over the highlands of Taif, which could extend to the holy sites between Dhu Al Hijjah 8 and 13.

The Saudi authorities have urged all Hajj and Umrah pilgrims to take extra precautions, stay hydrated, and monitor official weather updates throughout their stay in the Kingdom.
