Annie Zaidi recalls year of heartbreak and unimaginable loss
Esteemed Pakistani actress Annie Zaidi has opened up about one of the darkest and most painful chapters of her life, sharing the profound grief of losing her husband, mother, and brother-in-law within a short span of time.
During her recent appearance on the talk show Zabardast with Wasi Shah, the actress candidly reflected on the importance of spending time with loved ones and the lingering regret she carries over not being able to do so.
In the candid conversation, Annie Zaidi stated: “I think maa baap ky ap hamy zyada time guzarna chahiye kyun ky hum Zindagi mein itny busy ho jaty hain. Mein bhi wahan thi California mein aur mery parents bhi wahin thy itni fast life thi ky ammi kehti rehti thi ky beta thori dair baith jao, aur mein kehti thi ammi office ka time ho gaya hai mein baithu gi na aaky ye karty karty apko andaza hi nahi hota ky maa jaisi cheez baap jaisi cheez hamari life sy chali jati hai. Aur wo mujy both hota hai ky mein thori dair aur baith jati aur time spend karti tou is baat ka mujy both regret hai.” (I think we should spend more time with our parents because we become so busy in life. I was living in California, and my parents were there too. Life was so fast-paced that my mother would often say, 'Beta, sit with me for a while,' and I would reply, 'Mom, it's time for work. I'll sit with you later.'
While you're caught up in all these routines, you don't realize that people as precious as your mother and father can leave your life one day. It affects me deeply because I feel that I should have sat with them a little longer and spent more time with them. That is something I truly regret.)
Continuing the conversation, Wasi Shah asked her: “Aapky husband ka intekal pehly howa tha ye walidah ka?” (Did your husband pass away before your mother, or was it your mother who passed away first?)
Annie Zaidi responded: “Mery shohar ka intekal pehly howa tha aur isi gham mein ammi jo thi kyun ky wo both laadly damaad thy ammi ky, tou ammi could’nt take it. Sab sy baari tragedy ye thi ky usi saal meri bari behan ky husband march mein unka intekal howa tha aur December mein mery husband ka yaini hum do behny ek hi saal mein beewa hoi thi. Aur ye ammi ky liye both tha aur mein yehi chahty thi ky mein unky saath thora mazeed time spend kar leti.” (My husband passed away first, and my mother was deeply affected by that loss because he was her very beloved son-in-law. She simply couldn't cope with it. The biggest tragedy was that in the same year, my elder sister's husband passed away in March, and then my husband passed away in December. That means both of us sisters were widowed in the same year. It was extremely painful for my mother, and that's why I often wish I had spent a little more time with her while I had the chance).

Futher she added: ye both tragic tha kyun ky ek to wohi gham chal raha tha husband ka, behnoi ka to jab ammi ka howa tou wo to oht achanak tha. Kyun ky ammi ek normal housewife nahi thi she was a icon. Ammi ny at the last of 80 ghar ka insulation kia tha tou wo ek ordinary women nahi thi. Unka jana hamy both laga tha. ("It was very tragic because we were already grieving the loss of my husband and my brother-in-law. Then, when my mother passed away, it came as a complete shock. My mother was not an ordinary housewife; she was an icon.in the age of 80, she had established her own identity and achievements, so she was far more than just an ordinary woman. Her passing affected us deeply and left a huge void in our lives).
