Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry Tuesday said that there was no unanimity of thought among the opposition parties and they were only tricking each other, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to media, he said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in its first year got a fragmented economy.

“Coronavirus pandemic also hurt our economic stability,” he said. “The PTI government saved the national economy from bankruptcy with the help of friendly countries,” he added.

The information minister said that Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and China helped Pakistan recover economically, adding that overseas Pakistanis also sent remittances worth $31 billion during the current financial year.

Fawad also maintained that the current situation in Afghanistan put an economic pressure on Pakistan, adding that the petrol prices swelled globally due to Russia-Ukraine war.

“Despite tough circumstances, the prime minister has reduced the petrol prices and he will announce an industrial package too,” he informed the media. “The government is also offering internships at a stipend of Rs30,000 to unemployed graduates,” he added.

The information minister also threw light on the government’s feats in agriculture sector and maintained that the country had witnessed a record production of wheat, chickpeas and rice during the current season.

Coming down hard on the opposition, he said that there was no page of unity in the book of opposition, and they would die of jealousy. “All these parties in the opposition are tricking each other,” he claimed.

Fawad also claimed that the government was in touch with its allies and more meetings with the PML-Q and MQM leaders would soon take place. “Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi have close ties with Prime Minister Imran Khan,” he stated.
