The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday suspended the notification of the acceptance of resignations of PTI leaders Asad Umar, Ali Nawaz Awan and Khurram Nawaz by the speaker of National Assembly, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

These directives were issued by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.

The court also suspended the Election Commission of Pakistan’s notification regarding by-polls on the National Assembly seats vacated by these PTI leaders after the acceptance of their resignations by the NA speaker.

The court issued notices to all the parties and sought reply.

Chief Justice Farooq heard a petition filed by the PTI leaders challenging the decision of the ECP to de-notify them as members of National Assembly.

At the outset of the hearing, the CJ remarked that the PTI leaders were complaining earlier that their resignations had not been accepted and now they were saying that acceptance of their resignations was wrong.

Counsel for PTI leaders Barrister Ali Zafar told the court that the party members now wanted to go back to the assembly.

He said that the Lahore High Court, too, has suspended the notification of acceptance of resignations of the PTI MNAs from Punjab. He went on to say that the three members who belonged to the federal capital moved to this court for this very purpose.

After hearing the lawyer, the chief justice suspended the NA speaker’s notification of the acceptance of resignations of Asad Umar, Ali Nawaz Awan and Khurram Nawaz.
