Cop martyred in shootout with dacoits in Tangwani

A policeman who was critically injured during heavy exchange of firing with dacoits in the jurisdiction of Karampur Police Station died on way to hospital in Sukkur, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

According to the details, a police party were on their routine patrolling in the jurisdiction of Karampur Police Station when suddenly severe firing started between police party and dacoits.

A policeman who was later identified as Maqeem Khoso received serious bullet injuries during the firing. He was immediately rushed to Rural Health Centre in Karampur but later referred to Sukkur Hospital due to serious condition but died on way to the hospital.

Soon after the incident, heavy contingent of police reached the area and started search operation.

Further investigation was underway.

Earlier on February 2, 2025, a man was killed in a shootout between the Bhiya and Sheikh communities within the limits of Jamal police station in Tangwani.

Upon receiving information, the police reached the spot and shifted the body of slain Ali Akbar alias Guru Sheikh to the hospital.

Police said the incident between the two groups has taken place over a long-standing dispute over ‘Karakari’.
