Three policemen were seriously wounded and some vehicles were partially damaged when an unidentified assailant attacked Karachi’s Preddy Police Station with a US-made RGD-V hand-grenade, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

According to the details, the injured police personnel were identified as Arshad, Amir, and Riaz .

Sources said that the device landed inside the premises, causing injuries to the cops, and damaging several parked vehicles.

The injured personnel have been shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities have summoned the bomb disposal squad to assess the situation, while security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to trace the perpetrators.

24NewsHD also obtained report of Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) while police took custody of all available evidences from the spot.

DIG Asad Raza, the chief South Range, confirmed that the explosion also caused damage to a vehicle belonging to the crime scene unit, with a broken window as a result.

Investigators said they had obtained CCTV footage of the incident, while the BDS staff had collected samples from the scene. 

Further analysis of the samples from the bomb disposal unit is anticipated to clarify the nature of the device used in the attack.
