PM&DC approves registration of pre-2023 postgraduate medical, dental students

In a major relief for postgraduate medical and dental students, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has approved the registration of students who were admitted before January 16, 2023.

According to the council, those who completed their degrees before January 16, 2023 will be eligible for registration for the award of their degrees. The decision will benefit graduates holding MS, MD, MDS, MPhil, PhD, FCPS, MCPS and diploma qualifications.

PM&DC stated that the approval also covers degrees obtained from Pakistani universities as well as from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP).

The important decisions were approved during a meeting held on January 7, 2026, the council said.

However, PM&DC clarified that admissions of students enrolled after January 16, 2023 must be duly approved by the council. It added that after this date, training centres must be recognised under Section 25 of the PM&DC Act, 2022.

Eligible candidates have been directed to complete their registration process immediately, the council said.
