Three women and a girl of a family died a rickshaw fell into a canal in the Haroonabad area of South Punjab, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

According to sources in Rescue 1122, the rickshaw was carrying nine passengers when the tragedy took place.

The search for a minor girl is still underway, the sources said, adding that five persons have been rescued.

The deceased include 45-year-old Irshad Bibi, 50-year-old Shamim and three-year-old Yasmin. 

The missing child is identified as 11-month-old Aasia. Speeding is cited as the reason for the accident. Further investigations are underway.
