Kingsmen clinch historic PSL 11 final berth with close victory over Islamabad United

Hyderabad Kingsmen secured a dramatic two-run victory over Islamabad United in Eliminator 2 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11, booking their maiden place in the final after a tense last-over finish at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.

Chasing a target of 187, Islamabad United fell just short, finishing on 184 for 7 in their 20 overs despite a spirited batting effort.

Mark Chapman top-scored with 43 runs, while Haider Ali contributed 31 and Devon Conway added 30. However, the team failed to maintain the required scoring rate in the closing overs as pressure mounted.

For Hyderabad Kingsmen, Mohammad Ali and Hunnain Shah claimed crucial wickets, playing a decisive role in restricting Islamabad’s chase.

The match went down to the final moments, with Islamabad needing only 6 runs in the last over, but disciplined bowling under pressure ensured Kingsmen held on for victory.

With this win, Hyderabad Kingsmen advance to the PSL 2026 final, while Islamabad United are eliminated from the tournament after a closely fought contest.

It is pertinent to mention that Hyderabad Kingsmen have made their debut in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11. 

Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Kingsmen posted 186 for 5 runs in 20 overs.

Hyderabad’s innings was anchored by an unbeaten 61 from Osman Khan, who played a key role in stabilising the innings under pressure.

Captain Marnus Labuschagne contributed 39 runs, while Saim Ayub added 38.

Kusal Perera also chipped in with a quick 37.

For Islamabad United, Imad Wasim picked up two wickets, while Chris Green, Richard Gleeson, and Faheem Ashraf took one wicket each.

The PSL 11 final is scheduled to be played in Lahore on Sunday.
