The target of vaccinating more than 40 million children was achieved in the third national campaign of the year in September.
According to details, an additional dose of Vitamin A has also been given in the polio program. In the polio program campaign, 335,387 front-line workers went door to door and achieved the target.
Coordinator of the National Emergency Operations Centre, Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI) Dr. Shehzad Baig has said that we have a golden opportunity to eradicate polio completely.
He was grateful for the support of the leadership of the federal and provincial government, front-line workers, and other members of different schools of thought.
Efforts need to be intensified for the complete eradication of parasitic disease and the polio program is moving in the right direction, he added. Only one case of polio has been reported this year. A clear reduction in poliovirus has also been recorded in environmental samples this year.
