FIA fails to meet seven of eight targets set by Interior Ministry

A major performance lapse has surfaced in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), which managed to complete only one out of eight targets assigned by the Interior Ministry over the past two years.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the Interior Ministry had sought a detailed two-year performance report after FIA failed to deliver on the majority of its objectives. The agency subsequently submitted its report, revealing widespread shortcomings.

According to the report, FIA failed to achieve targets related to institutional restructuring and the establishment of new wings. Plans to open new offices, shift existing offices to solar power, and establish desks at airports also remained incomplete.

The agency was unable to fill posts left vacant by retiring employees or to complete fresh recruitments for new wings. Key objectives to enhance staff capacity, introduce leadership training programmes, and strengthen field operations in both investigations and operational support also went unfulfilled.

Moreover, FIA failed to move beyond bureaucratic red tape to digitise its system. It also could not restore frozen employee allowances or secure an increase in the high-risk area allowance and operational budget.

Out of the eight assigned goals, FIA only succeeded in amending its basic act and formulating regular standard operating procedures (SOPs), leaving the rest unachieved.
