Tarbela Dam is now full to capacity

Tarbela Dam is now full to capacity and there is no space left for further storage.

Heavy rains in the upper areas of Haripur increased the water inflow into Tarbela Dam.

The spillways of Tarbela Dam were opened at 6 pm on Monday. The total water discharge from the dam has reached 250,000 cusecs.

The Haripur administration has strictly instructed the citizens to stay away from the river banks and bridges for the safety of themselves and their families.

The Haripur deputy commissioner said people should avoid going near the water. The Haripur district administration and rescue agencies are fully alert to the situation and using all resources to deal with any emergency situation in Haripur.

The people of Haripur have been appealed by the dam administration to take precautionary measures.
