Punjab CM Maryam reviews four major health projects

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has chaired a high-level meeting to reviewed four major projects of health section in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A report on CM Special Initiative for Transplant Programme was also presented in the meeting which was held in Lahore on Thursday.

According to report, 16,625 registrations and 11,000 successful children’s heart surgeries were done and 7,664 children's heart surgeries and procedures completed in government hospitals across the province.

The doors of private hospitals also opened for the poor as 3802 children's treatment completed at government expense.

As many as 2001 patients registered for CM Special Liver Transplant Programme while 1,574 transplants successfully completed and 255 patients completely free liver transplants were done under the programme. 

Punjab government paid around Rs6.5 million for each liver transplant.

As many as 799 patients have completed kidney transplants under CM Special Transplant Programme and 460 patients also underwent cochlear transplants under CM Special Transplant.

In the hospitals, 32 patients received corneal transplants and 28 patients received bone marrow transplants free of cost.

Under CM Special Initiative for Dialysis Program, 38125 patients were registered and a record 1.5 million dialysis procedures were completed.

She said 11,000 surgeries, thousands of transplants, this is undeniable proof of Punjab's performance.
