AJK president praises EU MPs for raising voice for Kashmiris
Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan has praised the European parliamentarians for feeling strong concerns for the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir.
In a statement from the AJK Presidencial Secretariat, Sardar expressed gratitude to the European lawmakers to taking up the human rights issues in Indian-held Valley.
He also praised the expats in Europe for playing their role in highlighting such a big issue at all forums, the statement said, adding that the president made an appeal to expatriate across the world to stage demos on August 5 – the day Delhi revoked Kashmir’s special status by amending its laws and imposed curfew in 2019.
Last week, sixteen lawmakers wrote a letter to the European Commission president for bringing Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir into his notice. They stressed the need for stepping up efforts to get the Kashmir issue resolve so that innocent people could be saved from Delhi barbarism’.
They cited reports of international human rights bodies on brutalities being faced by Kashmiris in an Indian bid to suppress their struggle for just right to self-determination.
They said the Indian authorities has been imposing a lockdown since the revocation of Kashmir’s special status in 2019, adding to public woes especially health issues in the occupied Kashmir.
They insisted in the letter that the European Union must raise voice against the gross violation of human rights by Indian and take immediate steps to get implemented the UN resolutions.
