Foreign Office Spokesperson said that it is unfortunate that Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s statement regarding peace and stability in Afghanistan was misrepresented as he talked about creating consensus among regional players and Afghans themselves against the scourge of terrorism, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

FO Spokesperson said that Shah Mehmood’s statement should not be taken as an advocate of any one side of the Afghan conflict.

“Pakistan has repeatedly said that it has no favourites in Afghanistan and we will continue to play a constructive role in the Afghan peace process,” the spokesman reiterated.

He emphasized that all efforts should be directed towards a broad-based comprehensive political solution to the Afghan conflict.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Iran, the Afghanistan government and the Taliban do not want Daesh to grow in Afghanistan. Addressing a press conference at Multan's Raza Hall on Saturday, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the Afghan forces had the capacity to combat Daesh in Afghanistan.
