Adiala jail admin denies hepatitis outbreak claims of Kasim Khan

The Superintendent of Adiala Jail, while refuting the allegations of Kasim Khan, son of the PTI founder Imran Khan, has clarified that there are no hepatitis-related deaths among the inmates in the recent past, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.  

The superintendent, Abdul Ghafoor Anjum, was responding to Kasim Khan, as the latter, in a recent interview, alleged that 10 prisoners in Adiala Jail had died due to hepatitis and expressed concerns that his father might also be at risk of contracting the illness.

 Abdul Ghafoor firmly denied allegations of hepatitis-related deaths among inmates, asserting that no prisoners are currently infected with the disease.

"All prisoners undergo mandatory testing for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV as part of routine medical check-ups."

He emphasized that recent inspections confirmed no cases of hepatitis among the prisoners. 

"Medical examinations are routinely conducted in Adiala Jail," Anjum stated.

 "If any prisoner is found infected with a viral disease, they are immediately isolated to prevent transmission."

The jail administration maintained that, at present, none of the detainees are suffering from hepatitis. He reiterated that strict medical protocols are followed to ensure the health and safety of all prisoners.
