Jasprit Bumrah likely to miss Asia Cup 2025 due to workload management

Indian fast bowling ace Jasprit Bumrah is reportedly set to miss the upcoming  Asia Cup 2025, scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28, due to workload management.  

According to sources close to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Bumrah’s participation in the Asia Cup remains unlikely, especially after he featured in only three Tests of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which India is playing as part of the World Test Championship cycle.

The decision to rest him is being seen as a strategic move to manage his workload and preserve his fitness for the busy international calendar ahead.

Despite playing just three matches in the high-stakes Test series, Bumrah has remained at the forefront of India’s bowling unit. He bowled an exhausting 119.4 overs and claimed 14 wickets.

Insiders have indicated that Bumrah's increasing focus on Test cricket could be a major factor in his expected absence from the Asia Cup.

India is scheduled to host the West Indies for a two-match Test series, beginning on October 2, just two days after the conclusion of the continental tournament.
