Teenage girl, rescuer drown in Lower Dir's Panjkora River

Two people drowned in the Panjkora River in Lower Dir after a 15-year-old girl was swept away and a man lost his life while trying to rescue her, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.

According to Rescue 1122, the incident occurred on Saturday night when the teenage girl fell into the river.

Initial reports said a woman also entered the water in an attempt to save the girl but was caught in the strong current.

A Suzuki driver bravely jumped into the river and managed to rescue the woman, bringing her safely back to the riverbank.

He then attempted to save the girl but was swept away by the fast-flowing waters and drowned.

Rescue 1122 said water rescue teams from Lower Dir and Upper Dir launched a search operation.

The search for the bodies of the missing girl and the driver resumed on Sunday morning, with rescue teams continuing efforts in the Panjkora River.
