‘Friend of Poor’ dies of coronavirus in Bannu

Dr Muhammad Farooq Wazir, known as ‘Friend of the Poor’, died of coronavirus in District Bannu of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Dr Farooq Wazir, Additional Director of Khalifa Gulnawaz (KGN) Hospital, lost his life battling the Covid-19. He was shifted to a hospital in Peshawar after his health deteriorated but he did not recover.
Dr Farooq Wazir contracted coronavirus three days ago and shifted to an isolation ward in Bannu but later shifted to Peshawar for further medical treatment.
His funeral prayers will be offered at 3pm at Shah Hussain Qala in Bannu, the TV channel reported.
So far 25 doctors have lost their lives in the line of duty in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
KGN Teaching Hospital in a condolence message posted on Facebook paid huge tribute to the departed soul and said, “KGN and people of Bannu have lost such a gem of personality which definitely would feel this gap.”
The hospital statement reads, “Sir Farooq was a clear hearted, sincere and friend of poor and deprived ones, he will forever be in the special portion of the hearts of every single person he ever had met him in his life.”
“He is a Shaheed and we know Shuhada never dye and they are among us forever but we can't see them,” the statement reads.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so far 47,701 cases of coronavirus have been reported with 1,375 deaths, as per the data shared by the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC).
