17 drug dealers killed in CCD encounters across Punjab

There was an uptick in the crackdown against the narcotics trafficking across Punjab as 17 more drug dealers were shot dead in a string of encounters with Crime Control Department (CCD) teams in different cities, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

In Lahore, three drug-sellers were killed in two fierce encounters in Green Town and Kahna areas.

Police said that a Crime Control Department (CCD) team was taking the arrested accused, Mohammad Farid and Mohsin Ali, for recovery from Model Town to Kahna.

The accomplices of the accused suddenly started firing on the police team. During the exchange of fire, the two accused died, and their accomplices escaped from the scene, taking advantage of the darkness.

Another police encounter took place in the Green Town area of Lahore where accused Asif Javed was killed.

The CCD said that all the dead accused were wanted by the police in serious criminal cases including drug-selling, dacoity, snatching, murder, and attempted murder. The police have now constituted several teams to arrest accomplices of the slain accused.

Three more drug dealers were taken to the task in CCD encounters in Civil Lines, Cantt and Iqbal Town areas. The slain dealers were identified as Farooq, Ramazan Dogar and Wasim, the police said.

All the accused were killed in the cross-firing after CCD teams came under attack from their accomplices.

The bodies have been removed to a hospital for post-mortem.

3 drug dealers killed in Gujranwala

Three more drug traffickers were shot dead in as many encounters in Gujranwala region. They were identified as Tanveer, Ramazan and Asif.

These accused had already spent jail times in connection with drug cases, sources in the CCD informed.

When the CCD team raided their hideouts, they opened fire on them and in the retaliatory firing all were shot dead.

Within last three days, 19 drug dealers had been killed in different encounters with CCD personnel.

Faisalabad shootouts

In two encounters in Faisalabad, four drug dealers were shot dead.

According to CCD Incharge of Madina Town Ali Akram Goraya, they signalled four suspicious persons to stop who were riding a motorcycle.

But they instead opened fire on the CCD team. In the retaliatory firing, notorious drug-peddlers who were identified as Sikandar and Shehzad died on the spot.

In the second encounter, two drug-peddlers were killed, and another seriously injured during a raid by the CCD team in Faisalabad. The police encounter took place in the Nishatabad area of the city. The dead accused were later identified as Ghulam Shabbir and Ahsan Commando.

Police Circle Officer Inspector Siddique Cheema raided the location to apprehend the drug-peddlers.

After taking notice of the CCD team, the armed accused resorted to firing. When the firing was stopped, two accused were found in critical condition. They were rushed to the hospital but succumbed to their injuries.

CCD police said that all drug-peddlers had been wanted by the police since a long time. Later, the CCD team shifted the dead bodies of the accused to a hospital’s mortuary.

Three shot dead in Burewala

In the ongoing crackdown against drug-sellers in Burewala, three drug-peddlers were killed during three police encounters in different places in the last 24 hours.

The dead drug-peddlers were identified as Afzal Chohan, Majid Joya, and Sagheer.

One dacoit became seriously injured during a police encounter in the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station.

Police said that the accused were killed and injured by the firing of their own accomplices.

Notorious Zafar Sapari slain

Notorious drug-peddler Zafar Sapari was killed but his accomplice escaped from the scene during an encounter with CCD personnel in Sahiwal.

CCD police said Zafar Sapari has been nominated in eight drug cases. The accused has been selling narcotics in Inayat Colony of Sahiwal for a long time.

Police arrest 694 drug dealers

Punjab Police have arrested 694 drug peddlers in the last 72 hours and registered 688 cases during crackdown following the orders of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to make the province drug-free.   

According to Punjab Police spokesperson, during the crackdown, 907 kg hashish, 445 kg ice, 79 kg heroin and 11 kg opium were recovered from drug peddlers.

Two drug peddlers were sent to hell during the crackdown against drug peddlers.

In this regard, IGP Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed to continue crackdown against big drug dealers and smugglers quickly.

All accused involved in supply chain should be brought to justice and given strict punishment, IGP directed.

IG police ordered to speed ​​up action against those involved in drug peddling in the vicinity of educational institutions and hostels.

Take strict action against accused involved in online buying and selling of drugs as well, Dr. Usman Anwar directed.
