Guinness World Records recognises Pakistani academic as world’s youngest chancellor
NIT Chancellor Shahzeb Awan says 'your circumstances do not define you; your decisions do'
Guinness World Records has recognised National Institute of Technology (NIT) Chancellor Muhammad Shahzeb Awan as the world’s youngest male university chancellor.
The official recognition of NIT Chancellor Muhammad Shahzeb Awan as the world’s youngest (male) university chancellor by Guinness World Records is a significant milestone in highlighting the growing potential of Pakistani youth.
NIT is a federally chartered institution that is redefining the concept of higher education in Pakistan through its partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), one of the leading modern universities in the United States.
Under this partnership, NIT is providing world-class teaching facilities by combining American standards of education, local values, regional requirements and modern industrial needs.
NIT’s goal is to produce graduates who are fundamental thinkers, self-learners and self-starters who can successfully move forward in the global economy and rapidly changing industries.
The university’s programs focus on practical and skilled education, industry linkages, and career-oriented outcomes, to bridge the gap between education and employment in Pakistan.
The global award also holds great emotional significance for Shahzeb Awan, who said that the death of his father 11 years ago changed the course of his life, and this proved to be the turning point in his life.
He said, "Your circumstances do not define you; your decisions do. This loss forced me to choose a path through which I can create opportunities for others and play a meaningful role in my community."
Shahzeb clarified that this award is not just an individual’s success but a message to the youth of Pakistan, this achievement is a reminder that leadership does not come from age, but from belief, discipline and purpose, and this is just the beginning.
He expressed confidence that NIT will grow further in the future and provide students with a world-class practical and professional environment by forging stronger partnerships with industry, so that they can succeed with confidence in any part of the world.
