UAE Trade Minister visits Pakistan to boost economic ties

The Trade Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, arrived in Islamabad on Thursday for a two-day official visit.

He was received by the Federal Minister of Commerce, Dr Gohar Ejaz, at the airport.

The two ministers discussed ways to enhance bilateral trade and investment between the two countries, which have a long history of friendly relations.

Dr Ejaz said that the visit of the UAE Trade Minister would further strengthen the Pakistan-Emirate ties and open new avenues of cooperation.

Dr Zeyoudi expressed his keen interest in exploring the potential of Pakistan's market and increasing the UAE's presence in various sectors. He also appreciated Pakistan's efforts to improve its business environment and facilitate foreign investors.

The two ministers agreed to work together to increase the bilateral trade volume, which stood at $8.4 billion in 2020, and to diversify the trade basket.

They also agreed to hold the next session of the Joint Ministerial Commission soon to review the progress of various projects and initiatives.
