National holiday declared on February 5 for Kashmir Solidarity Day
Sindh follows federal decision; one-minute silence to honour Kashmiri martyrs: Punjab announces holidays on February 5-6
The federal government has declared February 5 a public holiday across Pakistan in connection with Youm-e-Kashmir (Kashmir Solidarity Day), 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
According to an official notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the holiday will be observed nationwide to express solidarity with the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir.
As part of the official observance, a one-minute silence will be observed at 10 am across the country in memory of the Kashmiri martyrs.
Following the federal government’s decision, the Sindh government also announced a province-wide public holiday on February 5.
A notification to this effect was issued by the Sindh Services, General Administration and Coordination Department.
As per the announcement, all government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils across Sindh will remain closed on the day.
A one-minute silence will also be observed at 10 am in all government offices to pay tribute to the Kashmiri martyrs.
It is worth mentioning that Youm-e-Kashmir will be observed across the country on February 5 as a public holiday to reaffirm Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri people and their right to self-determination.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has announced a separate public holiday on February 6 in connection with Basant celebrations.
The announcement was made by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz through her official account on social media platform X.
The chief minister said that with public holidays on February 5 and 6, followed by Saturday and Sunday, citizens in Punjab would enjoy an extended break.
She encouraged people to use the holidays to rest and rejuvenate.
Punjab will enjoy a long weekend with Kashmir Day on February 5, a provincial Basant holiday on the 6th, followed by Saturday and Sunday.
