Pakistan’s Asif, Irfan progress to pre-quarterfinals of Asian Snooker Championship
Pakistan’s Mohammed Asif and Rana Irfan Mahmood advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the Asian Snooker Championship following strong performances in the league stages, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.
On the third day of the tournament in Doha, Rana Irfan Mahmood won two matches in a single day to secure his spot in the last 16.
He defeated Mohammed Shahab of the United Arab Emirates 4-1 in his opening match before outclassing Malaysia’s Mohammed Wafi 4-0 in his second encounter.
Former world champion Mohammed Asif also booked his place in the pre-quarterfinals by defeating Tom Yuen Fung of Hong Kong 4-1.
The Asian Snooker Championship, held in Qatar’s capital, features top players from across the continent competing for the title and ranking points.
